Automaton man of war ship Longcase clock hands

I services this Longcase and it lives in a really posh restraint. Some drunkard broke the hand of so I made a New one. Michelin star restraint as well ,  Little Barwick I think the place is called. well it was up there in Michelin food land,
anyway I was going on abouty clock stuff not food.

Waxing the Engraving of a back of a Clock

I Showed you a Dial Silvering and I was going on about the numerals and how they had wax in them,

so Ha ho I thought give my self a test on the good old waxing process.
I warning you it isn't easy as first of all you have to strip the clock down and that's a 300 year old fuse with the escapement to go with it . like a painting in my eyes to look at ticking away it would of been rude not to. when you skim the brass on the back to get the scatches out you take layers of the engraving away so a happy medium needs to take place. or you can carv the engraving out a tad but your wont be playing as your into serious getting told of by the customer if you mess up.
its a corker though. Dislexic so I do apologise about my gramma.

Silvering a longcase Dial

They Do come up nice if I don't mind saying so my self some times they can be pigs though as 200 -300 year old brass they used to use has impurity's in the brass, trick is to not have any other substance that can mix with the chemicals while doing it.. Saying that  to get a nice silver finish it needs to be done a few times, just to get a good coating of silver on it.quite enjoy doing them but be warned there is an art to it and its not straight forwards.
The numerals have wax in them so if you don't clean them out nice before you start then reactions with the chemicals you will get.
. I think I heated the dial up on that one as you can fill with wax. The wax cracks and some numerals have no wax. like I said its not just the case of silvering the dials.
when you have done the numerals with wax then you skim it with different grade wet and dry paper.

I have a gadget so you can spin and go around in one circular motion a nice uniform scratch then it gives I say scratch but where talking 1200 grade wet and dry paper so to the naked eye it wouldn't be a scratch.

Drocourt, Carriage Clock with Subsidary dials serviced

I was looking for the better version of the Drocourt see this one I did has a Day, Date and Alarm to its arsenal of subsidiary dials.
Tricky carriage clocks as they can get expensive to service and if there cheep ones they cost the same as the expensive ones to service, basically if the platform has had it then its going to cost more to fix that's the part on the top that regulates the clock.
If my grama isn't to great I am a tad dyslexic so one is sorry if it isn't so good.
