Lantern Pinion

Giving the barrel a clean so all the leaves fit nice into the lantern

pinions. There is a cleaned barrel next picture down on the right.

All nice and Straight now and clean. They do seem to want to harbour dirt.

Lantern Pinion Mantle Clock

This Clock has Lantern Pinions = A type of gearwheel, now used only in clocks, consisting of two parallel circular discs connected by a number of pins running parallel to the axis. And a pig to clean. You can see why a clock may not wish to work so well. The pins are not running parallel so they will need to be straightened.
