fusee Chain

1 our 2 problems your chain was rusted your main spring was distorted and worn out and the pallet has had a bit of metal super glued on. There is a new picture of the old spring and the new spring next to it.

Wednesday

Fusee

Finished
Has a nice tick to it now .Will put it on test for 8 days to regulate the time and to see if it has any other little problems.

Sunday

Fusee Time piece

A new Fusee spring on the right and the old one
just to left of the barrel.

The pallet was damaged so i have soldered a nice bit of toughened steel, to bring it back to the right angle.

A picture of the fusee after and before.
I am waiting for some fusee wire then i can put it on test.

Thursday

Fusee Movement

This fusee Centre wheel and pivot had been
glued. So i have re-pivoted it properly. It had a slight wobble to say the least the glue must have given way after a few years.

The cylinder-barrel which holds the spring needs to be bushed. I will post a few more pictures as i go.

Centre wheel with its nice new pivot.

The Fusee is basically a continuously variable gear in the form of a brass cone.
As the spring inside the cylinder begins to unwind it operates the clock through the cone
working from the narrowest point to the widest, which, when the spring is at its weakest point provides the maximum amount of leverage.the first illustration of a fusee movement was in the sketches made by leonardo da Vinci in 1490.
