Tuesday

Long case

The Escapement did start on the first plug hole.

I think that that the wrong size escapement wheel was cut.

With a clock of this age you would expect repairs but some of these old repairs are not very funny at all.

The picture on the right. The solder man shouldn't of done this.

There has been a fair few old repairs that i don't like. The movement has had a new escapement wheel at some point, i think the wrong size,so having to move the bridge that holds the escapement. This has been attacked. What has been done doesn't look very pleasing to the eye .

If you click on the picture i have put a circle around some old repairs.

I have got it ticking but the strike is playing up so a bit more work.

Friday

Long case clock. Full Service

As we discussed it looks like its rubbing there and stopping it.

I will put new bushes in where i find it has been dented in like that. Its not good practice to dent like that they did it a lot in the 1800 and it makes a mess of the pivots. Its a quick way to make the hole small for the pivot. I will post a few pictures when i am stripping it down.

Tuesday

Drocourt.Serviced

Stamped on the inside of plate .well after a good bit of polishing its getting there.

Sunday

Drocourt .Platform

Got to take of the platform of again to service the movement. If you click on the picture it will enlarge and you can see the difference in the platform. I will post a few more pictures when the movement is done.

Friday

Drocourt, Repeater.on a Bell 1860

Not had time to Strip the movement down. Case has gone of to the guilders

I will post a few more pictures when i get a chance to as i cant wait to see it done.

1865-70 Striking the hour and half hour on a bell. There are service scratches on the case going back to 1870 so it might be a little earlier then 1865 , i will look into it.

It has H L Stamped on the inside plate This stands for Henri Lemaille, who supplied Drocourt with the roulant blancs. He also supplied Henri Jacot and Leroy so he has got to be one of the best roulant blanc supplyers of this period. This clock has the drocourt stamp on the out side plate. the numbers on the movement are the same as the case which is always nice to see.
